Vida Me Asombra

This week my life was shown an intriguing new door.

Several days ago I was approached by a member a Lipscomb’s Missions Department with a surprising opportunity. I was asked to take a weekend a trip to Guatemala, a trip that would take place in 2 weeks. This is all the information he could share with me at the time, so of course, I said I was on board.

Since this initial offer, I’ve learned that our small team will be traveling to the Ulpan Valley, which can be found about an hour east of Coban. From the valley, we will be working with Project Ulpan - a program providing sustainable clean water for nine villages while working to aid causes of education and social justice.

From my understanding, I may have the opportunity to return to the Central America for a second trip in May. If so, I’ll be given the task of working on the ground for 3 weeks to make a documentary about life in the Ulpan. As an aspiring young filmmaker, this strikes me as an exciting way to practice my passion while trying to advance the cause of the Kingdom.

The Jungles of Northern Guatemala

However - At this point, all I know is that in 2 weeks, I’ll be taking my first steps in Guatemala with little more than my backpack and open eyes. Exciting? I’d say so.

Life amazes me.
