Life!

Tonight I caught a sneak peak of Discovery’s newest masterpiece, Life.

(For all you Planet Earth lovers out there, Life is the next step in the awe inspiring series.)

What follows is the epic tale of how I came to discover Planet Earth

During spring break of 2009 I decided to stay in Nashville to do a local mission trip. After strenuous days of physical labor, I would return home to my empty apartment to eat and sleep. One night as I was dominating a Lipscomb stationary bike, I flipped on The Discovery Channel to see if anything was on. I was immediately blown away by natural wonders brilliantly captured by beautiful cinematography. I quickly discerned that this had to be the award winning Planet Earth I had heard so much about. Much to my delight, Discovery as showing 3 episodes a night, all week. So, over the week to come, I spent my nights in front of the TV watching vibrant birds of paradise, bottlenose dolphins (my favorite), and an encyclopedia of creatures and marvels I had never seen before. I quickly ordered the series from Amazon and we began hosting Planet Earth parties like it was going out of style. I was in love…

With Planet Earth, not this dolphin.

At this point in life I’m not sure where my next steps will take me. I have an ambitious dream of someday becoming an environmental filmmaker and creating the next Planet Earth. At times I have to question the reality of these ideals, but all the inhibitions fade away when I pop Planet Earth into my DVD player. After graduation I’ll being applying to grad school for Film in hopes of making this dream more achievable. I can never be sure what God has in store for me, but if there’s any chance this is meant to be, count me in. Until then, only one thing is for certain. Life begins in March 2010!
