Last night Conan O’Brien stuck it to NBC with a $1.5 million skit which includes the world’s most expensive car, the Bugatti Veyron, brilliantly dressed as a mouse while the original mastered version of the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” plays in the background. Is the skit on its own funny? No. Is it crazy expensive? In the words of O’Brien, “Hell yes!” And with this combination, the skit is outrageously funny. Until his Tonight Show is scratched at the end of the week, Conan can basically do whatever he wants and the funding comes straight from NBC’s pocket. Currently, O’Brien is to receive 45 million dollars when he departs from NBC. And while Conan will be unable to sign with any other network for the next few months, there’s word that he may be hosting his own prime-time show on FOX by the end of 2010. I feel like his $45 million should last him until 2011, but last night proved one thing, Conan is pissed and far from frugal. I look forward to seeing how he wraps up his final week as the host of the Tonight Show.
