If you had told me this summer that my Titans would be 0-5 at this point, I would have called you a dirty, dirty liar. Then I probably would have even punched you face for your gridiron blasphemy.
Well, it’s October 12, 2009, and the Titans are indeed 0-5. And with all of our defensive injuries and upcoming schedule, a sudden improvement doesn’t seem likely.
Still, regardless of our loss to the Colts on Sunday night, I had a good time on Code Blue night. Walking to the stadium beneath the downtown blue lights was such a joyous experience. (Not quite as epic as last year’s, but still exciting) Code Blue really is a big event for our city as the massive amount of Sunday Night Football viewers get to see what our beautiful city is all about. Sadly, they also saw my dear friend Peyton Manning go hog-wild on our banged up secondary.
I also enjoyed the game because I got to watch it with my father. Being a senior in college I don’t go home very often, so it’s always good to see my family. Even if we’re coming together to cheer for our under-performing unit, I’m still thankful for times like these.
Yes, our season is off to a terrible start. Yes, we’re dead last in the AFC South. And yes, next week’s game in New England doesn’t look pretty, but I AM NOT giving up hope. At this point, hope’s all we got.
Don’t give up, fellow Titans fans. These painful times will pass and better times await in the future. Don’t give up hope.
