It’s Only a Game… (Keep telling yourself that)

I can’t express how much I enjoyed watching Chris Johnson score touchdowns for 57, 69, and 91 yards during today’s game. Each touchdown was followed by a traditional high five from my dad and the supporting cast of section 116, making it all the sweeter.

However, I can’t express how much I hated watching Matt Schaub pass for 4 touchdowns during today’s game, even if his dominant receiver (Andre Johnson) was starting for my fantasy football team. A blanket of disappointment smothered LP as Schaub escaped the day without being sacked a single time, leading the Texans to a 34-31 victory.

When a professional football team scores 31 points, they should win the ballgame. For the team that boasts one of the most stout defenses in the NFL, 31 points should be enough to blow the Texans out of the water. September 20, 2009 will be forever etched into my mind as a day of blown coverages, poor officiating, and regrets that I benched Matt Schaub on my fantasy football team.

Next Sunday the Titans travel to the Meadowlands to face fellow AFC defensive juggernaut, the New York Jets. If they don’t show up with a sense of urgency, there’s a strong chance we could head home 0-3. Here’s hoping we revive the pain train in New York.
